Description
Matisse – “The Dance” by Gary Berger
This contemporary metal wall was inspired by the master piece called “The Dance” by Henri Matisse.
Figures in the foreground were flame cut from mild steel and painted with acrylics infused with a glass bead medium. The figures are fastened about 3/4″ off of an aluminum background that have been ground and painted using a very specialized process. This process involved grinding aluminum and then spraying it with a high quality clear coat, the same quality used in the automotive paint industry. After several layers of clear coat are applied the surface is then sanded and painted with anodized paint. The entire piece is then clear coated again, sanded, polished and then waxed. The result is a reflective surface that appears three dimensional.
